Called Before You Work
This Devotional is part of the series: Purpose, Provision & Calling A 3-Day Devotional Series for (Kingdom Builders)
Return tomorrow for Day 2 — Elevating What’s Already in Your Hands

Day 1: Called Before You Work
Faith Scripture
Jeremiah 1:5
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart…”
Devotional Reflection
Before you ever had a title, a job, or a business idea—God already called you.
Many of us fall into the trap of trying to earn our identity through what we do. We work harder, do more, and chase purpose as if it’s something outside of us.
But purpose is not something you find—it’s something you were given.
Your work does not define you.
Your calling defines how you show up in your work.
When you understand this, you stop striving for validation and start moving with intention.
Whether you are building a business, writing a book, or serving in your current role, you are not starting from scratch—you are building from what God has already placed inside of you.
You are already called.
Now you are learning how to walk in it.
Prayer
Lord,
Thank You for calling me before I ever began working or striving.
Help me to rest in the identity You’ve given me.
Remind me that I don’t have to prove my worth through what I do.
Teach me to walk confidently in my calling and to let that calling guide my decisions, my work, and my creativity.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
Reflection Question
Have I been trying to prove my worth through my work instead of trusting the calling God has already placed on my life?
Faith Declaration
I am called by God.
My work is an expression of my purpose, not the source of my identity.
