Joy That Teaches Others

Day 3: Joy That Teaches Others
Scripture
Nehemiah 8:10
The joy of the Lord is your strength.
Devotional
The world often chases joy.
It searches for it in success, achievement, control, and outcomes.
But exceptional children often carry something different—
a joy that isn’t dependent on any of those things.
A joy that is:
- present in small moments
- expressed freely
- unfiltered and honest
A laugh that comes without hesitation.
A smile that doesn’t need permission.
A moment of excitement over something others might overlook.
And in those moments, they are not just living—
They are teaching.
Teaching us:
- to slow down
- to celebrate what matters
- to find beauty in simplicity
Sometimes we think we are raising them…
but in many ways—
they are raising us.
They are reminding us what it means to live fully present.
And that kind of joy?
It doesn’t come from the world.
It comes from God.
Reflection
There is a kind of joy that doesn’t come from circumstances—
it comes from presence.
Many exceptional children carry a joy that is pure, unfiltered, and powerful.
They remind us:
- to slow down
- to celebrate small things
- to love without conditions
They are not just being taught—
they are teaching us.
Reflection Prompt
What is one moment of joy my child gave me recently?
Prayer
Lord, help me to embrace joy in its simplest and purest form.
Teach me to embrace joy the way my child does.
Help me slow down, be present, and appreciate the beauty in small moments.
Let joy fill our home in a way that strengthens us daily.
Amen.
Affirmation
My child carries a joy that strengthens hearts and teaches.
