When Grace Gives You Another Chance !

Faith in Action – Heed the Warning

Scripture:

Proverbs 19:20 (NIV)
"Listen to advice and accept discipline, and at the end you will be counted among the wise."

There are moments in life when God doesn't just protect us—He pauses us.

Recently, I experienced what I can only describe as God's mercy in motion.

One day, I unknowingly drove through a red light with my children in the car. Looking back, I realized how differently that moment could have ended. Instead of tragedy, God gave us safe passage. I pulled over afterward with tears in my eyes, thanking Him for His protection.

A few weeks later, I was stopped for speeding while rushing from one place to another. The officer gave me a warning and simply told me to slow down.

Then it happened again.

I was once again in a hurry, trying to get my son where he needed to be while my husband took some much-needed time to care for himself. I was driving 68 mph in a 45 mph zone. This time I knew there was no excuse.

The officer looked at me and said, "My buddy gave you a warning."

My heart sank.

I expected a ticket. I deserved one.

As he walked back to his patrol car, I prepared myself for the consequences of my choices. When he returned, I looked down at the paper.

Warning.

Again.

I sat there overwhelmed—not because I had avoided a ticket, but because I realized God had given me another opportunity to change.

Grace is not permission to continue making the same mistake.

Grace is God's invitation to become different.

Sometimes we pray for miracles while ignoring the warnings that come before them.

Sometimes God whispers before He allows consequences to speak.

His warnings are acts of love. His correction is evidence that He cares enough not to leave us where we are.

For me, this wasn't just about driving too fast. It revealed something deeper: I was living in a constant rush. Always trying to beat the clock. Always feeling behind. Always believing I had to hurry.

But peace doesn't live in hurry.

Wisdom doesn't live in hurry.

And often, God's voice doesn't either.

The same day I received that second warning, I closed another chapter of my life by submitting my resignation from my previous job. It felt as though God was reminding me that as I step into a new season, I cannot carry old habits with me.

I don't want another warning.

I want to walk in wisdom.

Today, I'm thankful for God's protection, His patience, His correction, and His grace. I didn't earn another chance, but I received one. My responsibility now is to honor that grace by changing my actions.

Prayer

Father, thank You for protecting me even when I don't realize the danger around me. Thank You for Your mercy that gives me another chance and for loving me enough to correct me. Help me not to ignore Your warnings or take Your grace for granted. Teach me to slow down, trust Your timing, and walk in wisdom instead of rushing through life. May my gratitude be seen not only in my words but also in my obedience. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Reflection

Where has God been warning you—not to condemn you, but to protect you?

Don't mistake His patience for permission.

His warning may be the very evidence of His love.

Faith Declaration
